FIELD STUDY 2- DAY 11: "Most people don't listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply." -Stephen R. Covey (7:00 am-12:00 nn)
Good morning, Diurna!
Today is our 13th and 14th days of duty because I will have a whole day duty for our FS-2. I woke up early today because I don't want to be late again, which I really tried my best. And truth be told, I was able to arrive on time. While waiting for my CT since she lives in Tagum City, I checked the surroundings, and the floor if it is already cleaned by the students because I know ma'am will be upset if the room is still mess. Not later that moment, Ma'am Bigcas arrived. I greeted her "good morning", so are the students.
Moreover, as the bell rang we stood up to start the day with a morning prayer. Right after that, Ma'am started calling students for their attendance, returned their paperworks and output that already been recorded. Yesterday, ma'am assigned me to download a news report for their activity today that in lines with the listening lesson. After the reminders, she gave me the time to facilitate them for their activity. I ready and prepared myself as I also preparing the speaker and my cellphone for the audio presentation so they can listen carefully and correctly, so they can be able to comprehend and get the important details that would answer to the guided questions.
I explained to them first the questions and some terms that they may find difficult to understand. Then, I started playing the video and they listened to the audio news report. I played it 3 times for them to get the important information then I gave them time to answer. For the nth times I played again so they would get answers correctly.
It started first in section Azalea, Catleya for the second period, Begonia for the third period, and Daffodil for the last period in the morning. Then we checked the papers. The total number of items is 8 but ma'am Bigcas told that I will add 2 points so it would be 10 items, score over 10. And most of them got a bad scores, which tell that they should still practice improving their listening skills with the given suggestions. However, I still gave them claps for doing their best in listening despite the difficulty of words.
After that moment, I went to ma'am to give all the worksheets. Then, I had my lunch together with my group mates. I managed to finish my lunch before the first period class will start at 12:45, hence, I arrived in section Gladiola at exactly 12:43 and reminded them to prepare their paper, pen, and themselves for the new activity that will test their understanding of the lesson and test their listening skills.
I, first explained the things they are going to do, and they are listening attentively. Also, I checked their attendance before we proceed, then set up the speaker and phone to start the listening session. I repeated the audio three times so they would get the right information needed for them to answer the guided questions.
Then, given them ample time to finalize their answer so we can check. We did a clockwise for checking the papers, after the checking the results were not that good same with the morning class. However, I still gave them my appreciation and claps for they gave their best in answering and understanding the news report.
To sum it everything I did today is nothing but a productive one. I was able to know how to manage and facilitate the class and I thanked my CT for that for the experience even I somehow lost my voice, but it's nothing compared to the experience I had today. Thank you, G for the wisdom and strength for today.
Goodnight!
