1/45 TEACHING INTERNSHIP

Hello, Diurna! It's been so long but today I'll start my journey with you.

Excited as I should because today will be my first step towards my goal and that is to finish and get that degree–Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English. I woke up at 5:00 am with a hope that I will be assigned to an understanding and kind Cooperating Teacher. And so I hurried myself preparing everything before I will turn late because every minute counts. Right after everything's done I rode a bajaj to my designated school– Pantukan National High School, yes I'm obviously back. There's no place like home. Plus thankful because I know that my CTs are kind, helpful, and understanding. As we were deployed yesterday, we already had an assigned CT for our major and minor subjects and so I got my loads and schedule, M-T I'll have my minor class for ESP at 7:30-8:30 am since ESP subject schedule is two times in a week. And for my major class from M-F 8:30-9:30 for Grade8- Garnet, 9:45-10:45 for Grade7- Lavender. And on the afternoon, 1:45-2:45 for Grade7-Jasmine. But before I went to my CT, we waited first for ma'am Neng for a short orientation before we start our internship journey with our CTs and students. Reminiscing the days as I looked at everywhere, from being a student back then, became an FS student and now an intern as a pre-service teacher. Indeed, "Layo pa, pero layo na."
Since today is an introduction and adjustment day, Sir Cyril– my CT in my major informed me that we will be having a reading session for his 3 loads for their Phil-IRI in every quarter. And so, he introduced me in his 3 sections– Grade 8-Garnet, Grade 7-Lavender, and Grade 7-Jasmine and yet my heart was touched and grateful for how the students welcomed me with their smiles and nice behavior especially Grade 8- section Garnet. As we start our reading session though I was not able to finish all and will continue tomorrow, I must say that there were still students who cannot read and pronounce words thoroughly. Sad but yes they normally exist knowing that they were part of a modular class.

They are not exposed to reading and spelling exercises so they cannot practice themselves. Hence, I promise to take my responsibility and be part of their progress throughout my 45 days internship. I will do my best to give them learning and to aid and improve their reading and spelling difficulty by giving them short task or exercises about spelling and reading aside from the discussion for the lesson. And today I am starting that promise until I finish. So help me God.
